Darkness Lady

Based on a poem I wrote thirteen years ago.  The sketch for this has been sitting on my watercolor block since 2014... and I only just now got around to painting the thing...  Anyway, poem follows:

Darkness Lady

Borne

from Hell’s deep fires
My eyes drink in shards of life
Silver droplets roll off my skin

I step forward
and banish feeble light
from my path,
beckon, corrupted bodies–

Black tendrils fall about me
to envelope those most stricken;
Wounded hearts yearn for my grace
And gladly,

I shall sweep them up
and end their pain and strife
But for me, my life is not–
no Lady weeps for me

For I am She.
